Our Stories
February and Counting....

February 9, 2010 1:34 PM
Good morning campers........and welcome back to www.campingontario.net . It's good to see all of you again.
At campingontario.net, we're all about giving you the information that you need to help plan your camping experience and to make it the best possible for you and your family. We understand that when it's February and cold outside, camping may be a few months away, but c'mon, truthfully, it's easy to think vacation, isn't it?
So, for those of us that are daydreaming of sun and fun at the campground, let's indulge a little, take a quick break from the workload, and see what our Ontario has to offer campers like us. Take a look at our listed campgrounds and imagine yourself in any of these locations....sitting by the pool, hiking and surrounding yourself with the beauty of Ontario, fishing, eating dinner with family and friends on your trailers' deck, or just sitting around the campfire after a long day of activities.
Shhhh....if we take a moment of peace and quiet, we'll hear the silence of camping....peaceful and serene. It's there for all of us.......enjoy.
Til next time, take good care and don't stop daydreaming. Spring will be here soon.
Thanks,
Patti and Michael
Brand New Year

Happy New Year to all of you!! Welcome back to www.campingontario.net! Pull up a chair and sit down for a while, visit. We hope you all had a terrific holiday season!
Since this site is called campingontario.net, let's talk about camping. How was the past season for everyone? I know it's hard to pack up and go home for the winter, though if you look at it in a different light, winter is just great preparation time for the upcoming camping season. Just a couple short months of winter (though some of you are basking in the southern sunshine!), and spring and summer at the campground is here again.
We, my beautiful wife Patti and I, are your hosts at Windmill Family Campground. We had a fantastic season in 2009 and, despite some wet weekends, old friends and some new ones enjoyed some great times at Windmill this past year. From opening weekend to Mother's Day and Father's Day celebrations, to Windmill's 37th birthday, Christmas in July to our Halloween celebrations before the kids had to go back to school....everything just seemed to go ......just right. We think this is what camping is all about.....everything feels just right.
Over the holidays, we had the good fortune to spend time with family here in Sarnia, Ontario, with a few day trips in and around beautiful Lambton County. We spent New Years Day, 2010 in Niagara Falls, Ontario. The camping destinations in this region are numerous and will be looked at closely in a regional feature blog, new this year on www.campingontario.net
See you next time and thank you for visiting us!

It's Camping Season!!!!

Hi again.....and welcome back to www.campingontario.net , it's good to see you again! Pull up a chair and make yourself at home.
Last time we talked, we discussed how camping means different things to different people. I guess it's all summed up in saying that camping, whatever it means to you is just good for the soul. Over the last month and a bit, my beautiful wife, Patti, and I have been travelling to different parts of Southwestern Ontario.
We've had the pleasure of meeting with people who are in high gear, getting ready for the camping season, just as you campers are. The only difference is that the folks we've been meeting are the campground operators who are putting the finishing touches on what will be your camping /vacation experiences this spring and summer.
We met with Fred and Sandra Funk at Carolinian Forest Campground near Ipperwash Beach. They were both moving along at a great pace, getting the campground ready for another season.
We met with Steve and Jenny at Our Ponderosa, near Kettle Point, and with Ed and Jenny at Lambton Christian Campground, outside of Camlachie. It's this time of year that there's always something to be done, and these folks all say they're ready to welcome back their seasonal campers and make new acquaintances with people in for a night or two.
We visited Windmill Park, and everything is on schedule. The park is quiet now, but will be active again starting April 24th. Derek Jefferson at Bluewater Golf and Campground near Bayfield always has a good thing to say and he's looking forward to the 2009 season.
Last, but not least, we talked with Bernie and Cheryl Kelders at Klondyke Campground near Grand Bend. It seemed like they had both hit the ground running the day we talked with them. We wish them a great season.
Thank you to all these people who took time out of their day to talk with us about their Ontario campgrounds. We have so many great places to camp in this province, in our Ontario.......we hope you all make the most of it. Til next time, so long from www.campingontario.net
With warm regards,
Patti and Michael
Welcome....

Hi.....and thanks for visiting us at www.campingontario.net. Welcome......pull up a chair and make yourself at home.
We are Patti and Michael and we will be your "hosts" during your visits here. At campingontario.net, we believe that camping means many different things to many different people. From a weekend get together with friends at the trailer, to a whole spring and summer stretching out before you with lots of time to get to know yourself again, or to come together with your family.
To some people, camping is enjoying the great outdoors and sleeping in a tent, to others, it's the adventure of the open road, travelling from home to a destination, or just enjoying the trip in between.
Then, there are those who believe camping is a few days away at a five star resort......no cooking, no cleaning, just rest and relaxation with a feeling of no worries or cares.
We are so fortunate to be where we are. The world may be at our beck and call, but our province, our Ontario, can be a one tank trip to the campground, or a three week trip across the province, from town to city to every county in between. Ontario offers us everything, whether it's great skiing or snowboarding, to long sunny days at the campground, around the pool or at the beach in the summer.
Patti and I have the great opportunity to show you our province by sharing our adventures while travelling in Ontario and telling you about the places we visit along the way. There are so many direction points to begin from, and so many wonderful places to discover! We can hardly wait to visit with you again. See you soon!
.
Warmest regards,
Patti and Michael
